The Bow-Tied Lady

Bow ties are cute accessories. I tried making one from a floral material that I have at home and I must admit, it didn't turn out bad(considering I had to hand-stitch it). It's also so easy to do. Sometimes, when I want to get that vintage look, I just wear my shirts with a black ribbon/tie. Here are some photos for inspiration and as always, my favorite style icon, Alexa Chung shows us how to do it.

50's Polka Dot Dress from Dear Dorothy

I won a beeeautiful Dear Dorothy vintage-inspired dress and hair bow on YCLAD Magazine last October. I love love love everything about the dress--- the color, design and how it fits. The lovely Laura of Dear Dorothy was so kind as to hand-deliver it to me. She's such a sweetheart. It's definitely going to be my go-to outfit this summer. So retro. So stunning.

Retro Eyewear

The time has come for styles of the past. Vintage eyewear is now hotter than ever. It is easy to make a statement wearing these glasses, even if you're just wearing a plain shirt and jeans. It is definitely for people who love to experiment with different styles. It gives one an edge and also a geeky look(in a cute way). If you're looking for a cheap vintage eyewear here in Cape Town, you can go to Pedro's Bitchin' Eyewear. He has a wide collection of vintage glasses that will surely capture your heart.

Pleated Skirts

These delicate skirts are very flattering. A schoolgirl staple that has become a trend this year. Could be of chiffon, wool, tweed or lace, it flatters and adds volume in the right places. For a chic look, pair with a plain white tee and accessorize with a slim belt. Here are some of the pretty pleated skirts that I found online. There's one from Lollyloves which they're selling for R300 and another one which I bought from the lovely Janece of Vintage Lover.

Fly to Neverland with the Peter Pan Collar

I am so obsessed with Peter Pan collars right now. I mean, what's not to like? It's flirty, sweet and cute. Reminds me of the 60's when Twiggy used to wear it. You can also spot celebrities in the likes of Alexa Chung, Rachel Bilson and Emma Watson sporting this trend. If you're having difficulty looking for cute dresses with Peter Pan collars here in Cape Town, look no more. Babette Clothing stocks authentic and remade vintage clothes. I was browsing their site just early this year and I just fell in love with everything. Mr.Price is also keeping up with the trends and are selling vintage-inspired dresses with the girly collar. Check out these photos and let it take you to Neverland :)

Bowler Hats

The bowler hat is back on top again and now popular among stylish women who like to add a bit of edge to their outfits. It has been around since 1849 so it isn’t exactly new to the fashion scene. There is something undoubtedly chic about a lady wearing a bowler hat. It not only makes whatever outfit one is wearing stand out, it also brings a rock star look to it. This is definitely a must-have for all vintage lovers who want to take their look to the next stage. Will certainly do an outfit post once I get one.
